For those of you who know France, live here or visit often, you will not be surprised at the spectacle of a Frenchman caught short and sometimes in the act of relieving himself bragging at the same time. This is a fairly frequent happening in our neck of the Limousin woods. There he stands back to the open road, without a care in the world spraying his bit of the environment.
There is something very Gallic and indeed simple in this natural self glorification ~ and yet very foreign to the British onlooker. However, in this country of equality and independence I have yet to see a French woman do the same. Can any one explain this?
I understand the British reserve for we have been brought up to believe we could be arrested and charged with indecent behaviour if we did something similar in the UK. So we don’t do it in France either.
But if it is so acceptable for Frenchmen to parade themselves in this way, why not French women?
Can anyone explain?
