Connect for Friendship :St Yrieix Book Club ~ 2008

What’s happening in/around this part of the Limousin?

Well, under the umbrella of the Connect for Friendship banner, we have been in the process of forming a new Book club which will cater for anyone who wishes to read and discuss books in English. So far we have 19 members, mainly British but also some Dutch. ……… no French as yet but it is early days.

Book Club Choices for 2008

We met in January and decided on the following titles:

  • February ~ “The Zahir” by Paulo Coelho
  • March ~ “Great Apes” by Will Self
  • April ~ “The Kite Runner” by Khaled Hosseini
  • May ~ “The Time traveller’s wife” by Audrey Niffenegger
  • June ~ “We need to talk about Kevin” by Lionel Shriver
  • July ~ “Atonement” by Ian McEwan
  • August ~ “Firelight and Woodsmoke” by Claude Michelet
  • September ~ “Last King of Scotland” by Giles Foden
  • October ~ “Never Let me go” by Kazuo Ishiguru
  • November ~ “Grasshopper” by Barbara Vine
  • December ~ “A Piano in the Pyrennes” by David Hawkes

Not a bad start for a new group.

About Gorseinonboy

Hi I'm Vernon Goddard, retired and currently living in Lincoln having spent time abroad in France. My wife Carol and I are enjoying life away from having to make a living; instead we're making plenty of new friends in Lincoln. We have new plans for our time together and new adventures to achieve. Hell Lloyds TSB are still paying for it all and you taxpayers in the UK. So thanks ~ we really appreciate your regular contributions to our spending money. And why not stop and contribute on this site. If you have a view about anything I write you're welcome to post a comment or get in touch with me. When I'm not blogging, I write a little, garden a little less, drink and eat some, exercise when pushed, talk for Wales and think about the grandchildren. Well that's me. Gorseinonboy.

I’m a big Paulo Coelho’s fan and I don’t know if you heard about his blog
I’ve started as a fan and now I’m collaborating with him and thought that you would like to enter his universe.
    Check the blog.
if you want, or subscribe to his newsletter
You’ll see a community of warriors of light sharing ideas, dreams and most importantly following their personal legend.

A Warrior of Light often loses heart.

    Have a nice day!
